Through Europe in Dance Steps!

This project is a youth exchange – Action 1.1 – Youth in Action - focused on European traditional dances. The aim of this exchange is to work and, in this case, to dance all together to share our experiences and to contribute to the knowledge of other European Countries’ traditions and cultures. In Craiova, Dolj County, 25 youngsters, from 5 countries – Turkey, Lithuania, Poland, Italy and Romania will actively participate into the activities that we will run, activities based mainly on the intercultural learning process and on intercultural dialogue, using the traditional dances as a tool.
The dance workshops will be the instrument to know each other and to unite all the participants. In each of the 7 days of activities, the youngsters will discover and learn traditional dances coming from the countries involved in the exchange with the goal of mixing traditions and cultures and inventing new and alternative ways to use the dances as an instrument to express the multicultural issue. Furthermore, at the end all the countries will realize a final show all together.
Our challenge is to discover different cultures, to overcome the differences, to respect the other cultures and to encourage the dialogue among youngsters coming from different countries and bringing with them their own and personal backgrounds.
The dance will be the main activity but we will use other different activities – role playing games, workshops, animation tools - to develop our social skills such as teamwork, solidarity and tolerance.
